Training is a great way for people to develop and learn from their colleagues and peers in a safe and supportive environment.
This is especially true with regard to engaging with LGBT issues; an often feared or misunderstood equality issue. We offer a dynamic and thought provoking service which draws on our 21 years experience of empowering LGBT young people in Scotland.
Over the past 8 years in Scotland, we have witnessed a number of legislative changes which recognise the rights of LGBT people - for example, the Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003 or the repeal of Section 2a of the Local Government Act 1988 (or commonly known as section 28).
This is only part of the picture; nurturing diversity needs people to challenge the culture and ethos of organisations to really make LGBT young people feel safe and free from the fear of prejudice or discrimination when, for example, coming out at school or accessing their local heath clinic. Empowering LGBT young people to be active citizens and challenge the fear of homo/bi/transphobia requires investing in your personal and professional development.
Using our Training Service is a great way to get to grips with LGBT issues, mainstream LGBT equality or, more importantly, equip your services with the tools to reach out to LGBT young people in Scotland- and that is quite a lot of young people!
