Working with professionals to make a difference to the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people

LGBT Youth Scotland is a national charity committed to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) young people in Scotland. We aim to support and empower LGBT young people to be active citizens and build confidence in professionals to address LGBT issues.

LGBT Youth Scotland’s training service has provided training to a wide range of professionals including youth workers, teachers, colleges and universities, police officers, social workers, health professionals, the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, the Equality and Human Rights Commission and many others.

We have over eight years experience in developing and delivering training.  We provide a participative approach to training which seeks to raise confidence and competence in dealing with LGBT issues - both specific to LGBT young people, and also wider LGBT issues – we always aim to meet participants at their own level of understanding and knowledge.

We have developed various training programme to help you to:

  • Understand the diverse needs and experiences of LGBT people
  • Change your working practice to better address the needs of LGBT people
  • Challenge the discrimination and prejudice that is often faced by LGBT people

The LGBT Charter of Rights

The LGBT Charter of Rights and its accompanying toolkit helps organisations mainstream LGBT issues into their services, making their service more inclusive for LGBT young people and the wider LGBT community. This is particularly important for meeting the requirements of the Equality Act 2010. For more information on the LGBT Charter and to discuss how you can sign up please contact us on info@lgbtyouth.org.uk or click here to visit the Charter section of the website
