LGBT Youth Scotland has years of experience in delivering training to a range of professionals, including to school staff and those with an education remit. This training can be tailored the individual needs of the school, university or college. All training is interactive for participants, evidence led and where possible LGBT young people’s voices and real experiences are shared to enhance learning.
Training for schools complements LGBT Youth Scotland’s Toolkit for Teachers and Curriculum for Excellence. Sessions can be adapted to participant needs but are broadly designed to give participants the opportunity to explore LGBT issues, gain confidence in challenging homophobia and addressing these issues with young people. Delivery of training sessions is flexible and twilight sessions, short courses and taster sessions are available on request. Topics covered within training can include:
· Understanding the needs of LGBT young people
· Challenging homophobia and homophobic bullying
· Using the Toolkit for Teachers and Lesson Plans
· Supporting LGBT young people
· Legislation and Policy
· Meeting the needs pupils and LGBT parents in Primary School Gender Identity and Gender Variance
Training costs are outlined below:
Under 3 hours: £130 per hour + Travelling Expenses (Minimum charge £130
Half Day: £400 + Travelling Expenses
Full Day: £550 + Travelling Expenses
Reductions in cost are available when booking several training sessions or with longer term contracts.
