LGBT Youth Scotland started working across Ayrshire in Partnership with the Ayrshire Equality Partnership and the Equality network in 2011.

This work has included the signing of a Partnership Agreement with the Ayrshire Equality Partnership, the Press Release can be found here

Subsequently there has been lots of activity, with the Equality Network and LGBT Youth hosting a SpeakOut residential to support LGBT Community Members to develop LGBT groups in each area, as well as support by LGBT Youth to develop the LGBT Youth Groups in East and North Ayrshire.

An overview of the work can be found in this presentation

The LGBT Development Group is Co-Chaired by Marla Baird, from Ayrshire College, Kilmarnock Campus Email: bairdm@kilmarnock.ac.uk and David Bingham from Terrence Higgins Trust David.Bingham@tht.org.uk

The group meets every two months and is an open network of Practitioners who wish to share best practice, develop opportunities to foster good relations with the LGBT Community, and to problem solve any concerns that arise.

PLEASE NOTE The next meeting planned for  - Monday 25th November is being rescheduled

The Development Group was key in supporting the Civic Reception which took place at the Auld Kirk in Ayr as part of the National Gathering.
The Civic Reception was hosted by Provost Moonie and South Ayrshire Council, with support and representation from Provost Jim Todd, East Ayrshire Council and Councillor Maguire, The Youth Champion from North Ayrshire Council.

Over 80 guests met to hear from key speakers, and to demonstrate their commitment to continued LGBT inclusion by signing up to a set of agreed outcomes for the next two years. The guests then joined the celebrations at the award ceremony.
