Schools resources for LGBT History Month 2018

LGBT History Month takes place in February each year. At its heart, it’s an opportunity to celebrate LGBT life and culture and to recognise the achievements of LGBT people and communities.

LGBT History Month is for everyone: schools, community groups, organisations, individuals, activists, service providers, LGBT and non-LGBT people alike. Importantly, it's a great opportunity for schools to show a commitment to learning, discussion and reflection on progress still to be made to achieve full equality and inclusion.

To tie in with the Scottish Government’s Year of Young People 2018, our theme for LGBT History Month 2018 is “When We Were Young”. We invite people to indulge in a little nostalgia for their youth, celebrate how far we’ve come, and imagine a bold vision of the future for LGBTI people.

Every year LGBT Youth Scotland works in partnership with a wide range of organisations, community groups and service providers to deliver a diverse programme of arts, cultural and educational events across the country. To help schools engage with LGBT History Month we have created a diverse range of assemblies and activities for schools and teachers to complete with their students.

  • Starter activity on LGBTI terminology
  • Activities and presentations for levels 1 to 4
  • Assemblies for both Primary and Secondary
