Could you be our new International Youth Rep?

The Board of Directors of LGBT Youth Scotland, agreed in  February 2013, that we would appoint 2 young people to represent LGBT Youth Scotland, and represent their peers, at international events.

The position is open to any young person aged 18-25 who is able to adequately represent both the views of their LGBT peers in a conference, seminar, training event context, and able to represent the views and the work of LGBT Youth Scotland in such a context.  


Currently there are 2 opportunities which are already fixed, which you would be expected to attend:

- 1 week partnership building activity, Prague, July

- 4 day IGLYO General Assembly, Copenhagen, October


To apply you should:

- Be aged 18-25 between 1st July 2013 and 30th June 2015. 

- Have a full and valid passport.

- Have the time to commit to this work. 

- Be prepared to attend preparatory meetings, and do consultation work with peers to prepare to attend events.  

- Be prepared to do some research and learning about LGBT issues across Europe.

- Have the skills and confidence to travel independently. 

- Be committed to equality and anti-discrimination.

- Prepare feedback reports and presentations on your return.   


The application process is as follows:

1) Make sure that you meet all the criteria above

2) Complete the personal statement application (available to download below) and submit it to helpdesk@lgbtyouth.org.uk by no later than Thursday 27th June at 5pm

3) The returned forms will be reviewed by Hugh Torrance and Sarah Rowlinson.

4) You may be asked to attend an interview on 3rd July, and we will let you know this by no later than 28th June. 

5) We will get back in touch to let you know the outcome by no later than 5th July.
