Marco Biagi MSP hosts Parliamentary Reception on Young People and Education

On Thursday 7th February 2013 Marco Biagi MSP is hosting a Parliamentary Reception on the topic of LGBT young people and Education.  We will look at the history of our work and the past and present experiences of LGBT young people in Education.  We will highlight existing education initiatives and consider implications for the future. The event will include the voices and experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people and we hope to engage key partners in this event. The final programme will follow shortly but key highlights are outlined below: 

  • A summary of research findings including LGBT Youth Scotland’s Research on Homophobia and Homophobic Bullying carried out in 2006 and the findings outlined in the ‘Life in Scotland for LGBT Young People: Education Report 2012’ with more than 300 respondents. 
  • An overview of LGBT Youth Scotland’s initiatives in Education including our Toolkit for Teachers (2009), the Challenging Homophobia Together Schools Project (2010 – 2013), and our partnership work with EU organisations. We will also consider the implications for future work within Education.
