Jordan meets Olympic Medallist Sally Conway at Meadowbank Stadium

Whilst testing out a new hand-made bike at Meadowbank Stadium, 19 year old Jordan Abernethy crossed paths with 29 year old Judo Bronze Medallist Sally Conway.

Jordan was at the stadium working on a bike they had been building as part of a project delivered in partnership by LGBT Youth Scotland and Rural Urban Training Scheme Ltd. (RUTS).

Sally Conway recently achieved a Bronze Medal for Judo at the 2016 Rio Olympics, adding to the number of medals brought home by Team Great Britain, resulting in a record number of medals for the team.

Commenting on meeting Sally, Jordan said:

“I was at Meadowbank working on my bike and I had just finished it as Sally walked in. I had been following the Olympics and I recognised her as a Judo medallist.”

“She was really warm and friendly and she was telling me how she had been rushed off her feet and it all hadn't sunk in yet! Sadly we didn't get a proper chance to talk before she had to jump away again.”
