At LGBT Youth Scotland #FriendsChangeLives

Friends Rainbow Banner

a person with whom one has a mutual bond of affection; an ally; a person who supports a cause or organisation by giving financial or other help.

Friends of LGBT Youth Scotland are all of these things.

Our friends share our values and, like us, they want to make life better for the young people we work with. Our friends are always there for us, spreading the word about what we do and helping us change the world a little bit at a time.

This weekend we are out in force at Pride Glasgow marching with family and friends to celebrate the LGBTI community and the progress that we've made as a country. But, with a theme focusing on education we're mindful that there is still work to be done and our friends can play a vital part in making school a better place for LGBTI young people to learn.

LGBT Youth Scotland’s Education Report (2012) tells us that 69% of all LGBTI respondents had experienced homophobic or biphobic bullying in school, with 10% leaving school as a direct result.

By joining our Friends Scheme and making a regular donation you can support our work and change the lives of LGBTI young people in Scotland:

More than 250 teachers and 1800 student teachers trained in 2015 to give them the skills to support LGBTI students and stamp out homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in schools.

Almost 400 teachers and support assistants trained already this school year in the first two in-service days this term!

Working with over 500 LGBTI young people on an average week in groups and one-to-one sessions.

I can help, how do I sign up?

To become a friend sign up for a monthly donation. We'll leave it to you to decide what you can afford to give - for as little as the cost of a coffee or day saver bus ticket you could help a young person get to a youth group.

You can set up your regular donation via our Virgin Money Giving site:
