Afternoon plenary

“Supporting the wellbeing of LGBT staff is necessary to properly support LGBT young people.”
Can a school truly be a safe, nurturing environment for their young people if the teaching staff doesn’t feel able to discuss their own LGBT identity with the children? Can, and should, LGBT teachers be as open and honest about their husbands, wives, partners and families as their heterosexual colleagues can be? And what might the role of schools’ leadership teams be in creating an environment where those conversations are possible?
