All About Trans - Trans* Youth Glasgow

During LGBT History Month 2014, young people from Trans* Youth Glasgow teamed up with All About Trans for a series of video and podcast making workshops for the Patchwork project.

Patchwork is a collection of multi-media stories produced by trans* young people from across the country which aims to encourage better understanding between media professionals and the transgender community.

The multi-media stories will be shared with media professionals who are developing programme ideas to encourage fresh portrayals and increase positive representation of trans* youth in the media.

The videos and podcasts are now available on the All About Trans website – click here to see them!

“It’s good to hear other peoples’ stories,” said one of the young people who took part in the workshops. “It’s brought us closer together as a group.”

“It was great!” said J Geirson, Project Assistant at All About Trans. “The videos are all so different. I think the group all found confidence from each other and that was nice.”

As a result of taking part in the project, Alec Gray – from Trans* Youth Glasgow – has had a column published in The Herald. Click here to see his first column.

Another young person was filmed for My Genderation, a documentary series about gender variance produced by Lewis Hancox and Raphael Fox from My Transsexual Summer. The documentary will be shown on Channel 4 over the summer.
