LGBT History Month is GO!

We are very excited to announce the launch of the LGBT History Month programme for February 2014.

This year's celebrations promise to be bigger and better than ever, with more than 60 events spanning the length and breadth of the country already confirmed!

But, of course, LGBT History Month also has an important message to give, as Mhairi McMillan, Policy Director at LGBT Youth Scotland notes:

LGBT History Month aims to create a platform to showcase the best of LGBT culture in Scotland in a year of ongoing celebrations, including Homecoming and the Commonwealth Games.

And while this is an exciting, ambitious and accessible programme of cultural events, there is also an important message. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people living in Scotland and further afield face daily discrimination and prejudice.

By working with mainstream organisations as well as LGBT-specific groups, we want to signal as widely as possible that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people should not be simply tolerated but in fact celebrated.
