Digital Youth Workers Needed!

LGBT Youth Volunteers

We need Digital Youth Work Volunteers!

Here at LGBT Youth we understand that there isn't a one size fits all way to support young people in Scotland. Some people love coming along to our groups every week, some like chatting to us on the phone while others like to make the most of the internet and get us online.

We currently provide digital support through email, text and LiveChat sessions with our Digital Youth Work team offering information, advice and support online

The Digital Youth Work that we carry out is confidential and if the young person chooses, they can remain anonymous. Often a quick email, text or online message may be the first point of contact that many young people have with LGBT Youth Scotland so we like to make sure they get a warm welcome.

At the moment we offer our LiveChat sessions three times a week and our dedicated team of Digital Youth Workers spend time chatting to young people about anything from sexual orientation, gender, coming out, arguments with friends and family, homework and anything in between.

We would like to increase the capacity of our digital team and are looking for new volunteers to join us.

What do we need?

We are looking for empathetic people who are enthusiastic about the work of LGBT Youth Scotland and can commit two hours a week to provide digital support to young people. Full training will be provided so previous experience is not essential but if you have any special talents that you think might help us deliver a better digital service then that would be a plus!

We would also welcome applicants who are interested in developing the digital skills of young people and improving digital literacy in Scotland.

We would also welcome applicants who are interested in developing the digital skills of young people and improving digital literacy in Scotland. If you would be interested in supporting young people to create new content for our website in under the topics specifically including:  Asexual/ Aromantic sexual orientations, non-binary and gender fluid gender identities and mental health/ resilience and LGBTI Refugees then we would love to hear from you.

We also have opportunities for those interested in mapping services across Scotland that we can signpost young people to- from LGBTI friendly sports teams to self injury services. Joining us to help create this Digital Resource will be a fantastic support to not only our online services but the organisation as a whole.
