Aberdeen Rainbow Friends and Family Day

The Aberdeen Friends and Family Rainbow event was well attended and well exceeded the 100 people which we thought would attend.
43 engagement surveys were completed and a similar number of volunteer packs were issued by Aberdeen Council of  Voluntary Services (ACVO).
“ The first Rainbow friends and Family Day in Aberdeen took place in Union Terrace Gardens on Saturday 21st September.  It was a great success and exceeded the 100 people which we expected.  It was designed to foster good relations between LGBT+ people, their families, friends and the communities in Aberdeen.  We had face painting , ponies and  bouncy castles to entertain the children and fabulous information stalls for adults and young people. It has been suggested that the event form part of a Rainbow Pride Programme for next year.  The North East LGBT+ Development Group will be consulting our members on the support for this idea. Planning would be likely to start in January 2014.”

We were delighted that members of the Dundee ALLSORTS group also attended, and helped to support the LGBT Youth Scotland stall, which had a range of resources and information and campaign materials as part of the Time for T.E.A CAmpaign, currently being run by the LGBT National Youth Council.
20 people signed up to the Campaign and had their photos taken with fabulous teapots. If you would like to get involved find out more here

Huge thanks also to Daisy and Declan, for their wonderful and moving entertainment.

A fantastic day which made us all feel FABULOUS!
