We are very happy to announce the results of our Scottish Youth Parliament elections, as we appoint two new MYSPs to represent LGBTI young people at the parliament for the next two-year term. Huge congratulations to C-Jay Quigley and Owen Brand.
We were pleased to see lots of engagement in the election process, with 1.4K people watching our hustings livestream and subsequent recording. Over 250 young people from across Scotland voted in the election, with our two winners, C-Jay Quigley and Owen Brand, getting the most votes overall. They ran against two other extremely strong candidates, all of whom conducted themselves with admirable professionalism and consistently respectful debate.
"I'm over the moon to be elected and super excited to represent LGBT young people"
"I'm absolutely ecstatic and honoured to be elected for LGBT Youth Scotland. For someone who faced many obstacles, this goes to show what happens when you believe in yourself."
C-Jay and Owen will now undertake their training with the Scottish Youth Parliament, alongside media training and meet-and-greets with the staff teams at LGBT Youth Scotland. We hope you’ll wish them well and celebrate their success in the run-up to their first parliamentary sitting in June.
