LGBT Youth Scotland are excited to host this year's IGLYO Annual Members' Conference in Edinburgh this October. IGLYO is the largest LGBTQI youth and student network in the world, with over 95 members in 40+ countries. We will welcome over 60 delegates from across Europe to the 3-day event at the Festival Theatre, preceded by a pre-conference day that explores the legislative and social landscapes of Scottish LGBTQI life.
Fergus McMillan, Chief Executive of LGBT Youth Scotland said:
“We are really excited to be welcoming young activists from around Europe and beyond, to Edinburgh this October for IGLYO’s Annual Members’ Conference. The pre-conference day, Connections: Spotlight on Scotland, which is part of our celebrations of Year of Young People, will allow young activists to share their experience, highlight current work and collaborate on future projects.”
Connections: Spotlight on Scotland brings delegates of the main conference together with local young activists to learn about life in Scotland for LGBTI young people and form lasting partnerships across borders. With sessions including a panel discussion on Gender Recognition and workshops on inclusive sport and digital activism, the promises to be an unmissable event for young people.
Euan Platt, Executive Co-Ordinator of IGLYO, said:
"IGLYO is delighted to be partnering with our member organisation, LGBT Youth Scotland, to bring our Annual Members’ Conference to Edinburgh. On a personal note, having these two events in my home country, and being hosted by the organisation where I started my career in LGBTQI rights, makes them particularly special. I first discovered IGLYO through LGBT Youth Scotland nine years ago and it was a life changing experience. I’m sure that these events will have a similar impact on many of the young people from both Scotland and the rest of Europe."
The conference runs from the 4th to the 7th of October at The Studio @ Festival Theatre in Edinburgh.
