Raising the flag over Edinburgh Castle

We kicked off a thrilling Purple Friday 2018 by teaming up with the 51st Infantry Regiment of the Army as they raised the rainbow flag above Edinburgh Castle, for the first time in its history.

Adam from our Communications and Fundraising team met with Diversity and Inclusion Lead WO2 Dougie Morgan and Brigadier Gary Deakin to sign a rainbow flag, marking the Army's support for LGBT Youth Scotland's Purple Friday campaign.

As another flag flapped in the breeze over the Castle entrance, Brigadier Deakin told BFBS Radio that the gesture was just one manifestation of the Army's commitment to diversity and inclusion and that it was "a privilege to make a small gesture in support of the work of LGBT Youth Scotland and Purple Friday".
