In order to mark International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT) on 17th May, the Gay Police Association Scotland[1] broadcasted a live and interactive webcast covering the topic of LGBT Hate Crime.

The webcast covered issues including what constitutes a hate crime, LGBT Liaison Officers, third party reporting and what to expect if the crime you reported goes to prosecution through the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal service.

School Receives Award for LGBT Inclusion on International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia

Today Craigie High school in Dundee is presented by LGBT Youth Scotland with a Bronze LGBT Schools Charter. 

The school received the prestigious award for its work in supporting students as well as tackling homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. The school carried out awareness raising activities and ensured that appropriate training and policies were in place across the school.

16 and 17 Year Olds Helped Choose MSPs for the First Time

Scotland has now chosen its MSPs for the next term. This is an exciting time for Scottish politics as not only have 16 and 17 year olds been given the right to elect their representatives for the first time; it’s also the first time that the manifestos of all major parties have so clearly included issues affecting LGBT people. We hope this signals a new chapter in LGBT equality, particularly in working toward the rights of transgender and intersex people.

LGBT Youth Scotland staff, volunteers and young people went that extra mile, and ran for equality! Young people, staff and volunteers joined runners from across the country to take part in Scotland’s first ever Equality Run at Stirling University on Sunday. The event organised by LEAP Sports Scotland held both 5K and 10K distance runs, with many of our team taking part in a race for the first time.

Changes in Glasgow youth groups
