LGBT History Month Scotland
LGBT History Month Scotland is co-ordinated by LGBT Youth Scotland. Our role is to collate and advertise the numerous events that the wider community hosts, sharing the details on our website lgbthistory.org.uk and generating engaging social media content in the lead up to and during February.
- In 2018, we listed 108 events in locations from the Isle of Lewis to the Borders.
- We develop a theme each year to inspire event ideas, then design posters and flyers that are widely distributed across Scottish arts, cultural and scene venues.
- We work with organisations and individuals who want to host an event to help them make connections with venues and potential collaborators. We also advise them on effective ways to advertise their event.
- We curate a blog that allows us to draw attention to things that are happening during February that aren’t physical events. For example, we worked with The Scottish Book Trust to share some of their LGBT-themed book lists for children.
Teachers and people working with young people can find lesson activities and assemblies that explore LGBT History Month here.
