Call for 2 Preparatory Team Members
‘It’s T Time ’ – Building Capacity for gender identity work in LGBTQ youth organisations.
Kiev (Ukraine) 25th – 31st July 2010
We are pleased to inform you that IGLYO is organising the ‘It’s T Time’ conference to take place in Kiev, Ukraine, from 25th- 31st July 2010.
This event aims to bring together young trans activists, as well as activists from the LGBT youth movement at large, to make contact with each other,
exchange experiences, expertise and good practices, and build each other’s capacity to include trans issues in their work. This will lead to, the
publication of an IGLYO On... magazine on trans issues and activism, and the creation of strong networks for further activism and projects.
Some of the Conference’s main objectives will be:
- To discuss and share experiences of Trans and Gender Identity issues, especially Trans Youth issues, in a safe and welcoming environment.
- For participants to create contacts with other LGBTQ activists working in this field, in order to create strong networks that continue after the event is over.
- To explore how we can fight transphobia in our own countries, but also within the LGBTQ community and the LGBTQ youth movement
- For participants to expand their knowledge of both gender identity and trans issues, as well as exploring and breaking down the societal norms associated with gender.
- To look at barriers to Trans involvement in LGBTQ activism and how we can encourage more Trans members and more Trans activism within our own organisations.
- To hear from experts in the field of Trans and Gender Identity, Trans activism and equality.
