What is life like for LGBT young people in Fife?

What is needed in the future by LGBT young people in Fife?

LGBT Youth Scotland has been funded by Fife Council and NHS Fife to carry out a needs assessment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) young people in Fife.

LGBT young people are often a hidden population in any community. Currently, not a great deal is known about the experiences and needs of LGBT young people in Fife in areas such as health, education, employment, leisure activities and safety, or what services this group of young people would ideally like to see in place.

The needs assessment will gather the views and opinions of the following groups:

• LGBT young people in Fife
• Other young people in Fife
• LGBT groups and services currently working in Fife
• Professionals providing services for young people in Fife

This needs assessment will be conducted between April and September 2008. Information will be gathered in a variety of ways, through events, interviews, surveys and online outreach, and we would like to involve the widest range of people from all of these groups as all will have a perspective or an impact on the lives of LGBT young people living in Fife. At the end of the needs assessment, we will make recommendations for work for and with LGBT young people in Fife, based on what you have said.
