Dumfries and Galloway Diversity Week 2009

As part of Diversity Week 2009, Dumfries and Galloway LGBT Centre ran a varied programme of activities, aiming both to raise awareness of LGBT issues in the wider community, and to raise awareness of wider diversity issues with our own service user group.

Having a themed Diversity Week gave us the opportunity to:

• Plan and focus our work around key dates
• Work better together – the partnership working allowing us to  give and receive reciprocal support to and from colleagues; share resources; plan joint events etc.
• Raise LGBT issues and engage with people (including elected members) who have otherwise been difficult to reach
• Give our service users a voice on the issues that concern them, feel part of something ‘bigger’ and gain more understanding of issues around diversity in general
