Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP)

The Scottish Youth Parliament was set up in 1999 to give young people a voice in the affairs of Scotland. It is made up of eleceted members (MSYPs) aged 13-25. MSYPs meet four times a year in different areas from all over Scotland. At Sittings, members have debates, take part in training, and develop national campaigns. Their current campaign is called 'Being Young Is Not A Crime'and aims to challenge negative portrayals of young people.

LGBT Youth Scotland has two MSYPs who are elected every two years at our National Gathering. Our MSYPs need to be members of LGBT Youth's National Youth Council, as this gives them extra support to represent the views of LGBT young people.

Our current MSYP's will finish in September this year, so elections will be held at September's National Gathering in Glasgow.
