LGBT National Youth Council (NYC)


The LGBT National Youth Council (NYC) is a network of young people from across Scotland, supported by LGBT Youth Scotland.

Members aged 14-26, are elected to represent LGBT young people either in their area or youth group.

The NYC meets nationally four times a year in areas all over Scotland. At national meetings we work on campaigns, carry out training and discuss local issues. Members also meet every month at local ‘hub’ meetings to carry on the work and keep up to date with current issues.

The aim of the youth council is:

  • "To get young LGBT peoples voices heard at a national level.
  • "To bring Local issues to a national level and work together for a common solution.
  • "To discuss the issues of LGBT young people and share knowledge and understanding."
