Online Supporters

As a part of the Green Light Project, we will be offering online volunteering opportunities for young people who want to support others who are in the process of ‘coming out’ as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.

For a lot of young people who are questioning their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, there can be a lot of fear and stigma around talking to other people face to face about how they feel, where to go for advice and support, and to meet other young people who are going through the same process.

To make it easier for young people to access information and support regardless of where they are in Scotland, we will be training young people to deliver advice and support work online.

The bulk of this work will be delivered via our Online Forums which is a great space for young people, activists and professionals to share ideas and experiences, access youth work resources and toolkits, and meet up with others who want to challenge homophobia together.  The Forums are a safe space to do this as it conforms to Home Office and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre Guidance for online services for people under 18.  Registering will take up to one week and trained staff will have a discussion with potential users as to what their needs are for the Forums to work to their strengths and only registered members can see the discussion spaces.
