Forth Valley
In the past there hasn't been any LGBT Youth Groups meeting in Forth Valley and often young LGBT people have to travel to Glasgow or Edinburgh to meet other LGBT people.
Your Forth Valley reps on the Youth Council didn't think this was fair so have been working hard to try to set up a monthly group for young LGBT people in this area. You can find out more information about this group by visiting the Events section of this website.

As well as this new and exciting group, young people, professionals and others who are interested in changing things for the better for LGBT young people in Forth Valley have been meeting regularly to chat about how to do this.
The Forth Valley LGBT Youth Issues Forum discusses what the issues are for LGBT young people in Forth Valley and what can be done to make sure that they are included in the life of the region. There are representatives there from the Health Board, the 3 local authorities, different local voluntary organisations and the National LGBT Youth Council.
It will be a short-life group which will help identify what needs to change in Forth Valley and how to go about making those changes, and will steer specific pieces of project work, including:
- A research project looking at the needs of LGBT young people in Forth Valley (click on our news section to find out more about this exciting project)
- A project which will look at creative ways to reach out to LGBT young people by using outreach techniques
