Supporting LGBT People Experiencing Domestic Abuse

This two day training has been designed for delegates who already have an understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and wish to learn more about its impacts and support implications for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

By the end of the session delegates will have had the opportunity to:

  • Increase their awareness of the issues facing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people
  • Reflect on the nature of homo/bi/transphobia and heterosexism and consider ways in which to challenge discrimination
  • Reflect on current practice and policy, including legislative changes affecting LGBT people
  • Increase their understanding of the dynamics and impacts of LGBT people’s experience of domestic abuse.
