Challenging Homophobia Together:

LGBT Youth Scotland's Education Campaign

LGBT Youth Scotland’s new education campaign, Challenging Homophobia Together, was launched at the Schools Conference, 5th February 2009, by:

 

  • Alyson Thomson (Equality and Human Rights Commission Scotland)
  • David Paisley (River City, Holby City, Casualty, and Tinseltown)
  • and Fergus McMillan (Chief Executive, LGBT Youth Scotland)

 

Challenging Homophobia Together aims to: To reduce homophobia in Scottish schools through

  • Raising awareness of the effects of homophobia and homophobic bullying in Scottish schools
  • Encouraging pupils to support their peers and challenge homophobia
  • Providing young people in Scottish schools with positive messages about LGBT issues and anti-homophobia 
  • Equipping school staff with the knowledge, skills, resources and confidence required to challenge homophobia, and to support LGBT young people 

 

There will be numerous projects, messages and work being undertaken by LGBT Youth Scotland, and its partners, over the next year as part of the Challenging Homophobia Together campaign.
