How to report
Remote reporting works by giving the victim of a homo/transphobic crime the option to report anonymously, formally, or informally.
The victim can do this through a range of organisations, including LGBT Youth Scotland.
Remote reporting is for non-urgent crimes. In the event of an urgent crime, we can support you to report this to the Police through their local Force Communications Centre or by dialling 999 if your life is in danger.
The victim will speak to a trained member of staff who will take as much details as possible about the incident. The victim can give as much or as little details as they wish.
The trained member of staff will then report the details about the incident to police, who will then allocate an officer to deal with the incident. The officer has the responsibility to keep in touch with the victim and the member of staff so everyone involved knows what is going on.
